Diplo-California EP Review

Diplo is an American who is mostly known for his work with Justin Bieber . Recently, released his EP ‘Calfornia’ featuring many new age artist. This EP features 6 songs . ‘Worry No More’ (Feat.Lil Yachty & Santigold). The song is basically about them not having to worry about being broke anymore , about them making their family proud and living a good life . Diplo first tweeted about the song with Lil Yachty in January of 2017: “ So this @Santigold @lilyachty @diplo song is about to be a problem” here also later announced on instagram on how the whole song process done . “made this song with @lilyachty after his first show in toronto .. he ordered some pizza and freestyled this on a guitar loop.. we worked on some other music after that and then a few months back I decided to finish it and invited @Santigold to help.. she ripped it.. it’s why she’s one of the best out there.. santi decided to make cakes in the video. I love it.” The song was released on March 2nd .

“Suicidal” (Feat.Desiigner). Desiigner focuses on the struggle of finding hope while he is facing the challenges with mental health, and the track as mellow toned rap verses and dark vocals . “Thinking why they hating (why they hating.” Where he is from people start to switch up on him making him feel down and now that he has all the money. He has people try to get close to him again in order to get in his pockets . Its making him turn to bad habits like smoking , and drinking .

‘Look Back’ (Feat DRAM) This song is a reflection of past troubles and past bad situations that he had to face previously. “Zoning on the road Not knowin’ where to go But I ain’t lookin’ back I ain’t going back to that Looking down on the globe Outta this world, I know Somehow tryna breathe Back, baby.” The song “ Look Back” . This also overlooks parallels with the iconic Gnarles Barkley with the peaceful and soulful voice of DRAM .

‘Wish’ (Feat Trippie Redd) . This song is based upon Trippie Redds formal relationship with his most recent girlfriend . Unfortunately, this isn’t the original song that Trippie wanted to put out . The song that was put out was put a little more high pitched . “Ooh, baby, what you wishin’ for? Maybe you should wish it more Maybe the world is yours Maybe when it rains, it pours (Keep on wishin’) I don’t know how to wish anymore (Keep on wishin’) I don’t know how to wish anymore Or do I?” Trippie uses this to describe how he feels about using his ex and that he wishes that they were back together . He also pays recognition to the late Kurt Cobain .

“Colorblind” (Feat. Lil Xan) is top talk about how Lil Xan felt about his relationship . He felt that he was going 100 percent for his ex and she wasn’t giving him the same love and same vibe . This song is a combination of Xan’s sung parts and Diplo musical electronic melodies .

“Get it Right” (Feat. MØ & Goldlink) this song has more of an upbeat tempo and fast pace . Originally it was only MØ and Diplo on the track which was originally dropped in 207 and alone that one was good but now that they added goldlink as a remix to the original it is a absolute banger . This song is reflecting on people trying to hold them back from pursuing the dream in the musical world .”They can try to hold me down but I am gonna get right.” Also them facing challenges and bumps in the road “When the sky is filled with smoke and fire I’m gonna get it right.”
