“Not in our school”: Bullies being dealt with at the Anti-Bullying Play
Mar 26, 2018
This March an Anti-Bullying Play in the auditorium left people in awe when sixth, seventh, and eighth graders came out with amazing acting skills.
The play included real life situations like a bigger kid bullying a smaller kid. The play also showed girl bullies so it can relate to girls as well. Mrs.Listro said “the whole idea is to set an example for kids so they won’t be bullied.” Mrs.Masperi explained that she is trying to teach kids how to deal with bullies.
The bullies in the play were Savannah Jones and Josh Panchenko. Savannah said she “liked” her part in the play. Savanna was a bully in the play that was spreading rumors. She ended up getting in trouble and her bullying days were over. Josh Panchenko explained that at first he “did not want to be the bully, I wanted to be the teacher”. But later he decided the he wanted to be the bully.
Panchenko said “ I can’t wait for the next play”. He said he went to an acting camp that showed him how to be a good actor. He played a bully that was being mean to little kids that were trying to play with him. Panchenko said that everyone in his skit did “awesome” but they should have used microphones, “It was hard to hear everyone”.
An audience member said the play was “realistic”, but “I would’ve shown how the bully felt because sometimes they have a reason for what they are doing.
Eric Fraga, 7th grader, was a part of the stage crew. He said “I wanted to be in stage crew because I do not like being on stage.” Sydnee De Voogd explained that acting is not her “strong suit” and she doesn’t like being on stage. It makes her “nervous”.
This was the only bullying play this year. Liastro said “the only other thing drama club will be doing is a skit when the new sixth grades come”. Masperi also explained, “I will be more than happy to do more plays with Mrs.Liastro”.
Even though this will be the only play this year, everyone seemed to enjoy it..
