the stars dance through the sky
not leaving an area untouched by light
some shine like they are young and carefree
others are dull and about to burn out
like the old
they never are how they start
they grow and shine until they have nothing left
they shine for the last time
with every possible breath.
then disappear like they were never here
letting another take their place
they hide themselves during the day
from the sun
who always outshines them
they come out when the sun is gone
and everyone inside
not paying any attention to them
