Extols for Everything, Everything

The book Everything, Everything is written by Nicola Yoon, an established YA genre writer. It follows the journey of a girl with a rare disease. She can’t go outside and hasn’t been outside for seventeen years. But then she meets the boy who moves in next door…
Everything, Everything is a heartfelt romance book. It’s two main characters are Maddy Whittier and Olly Bright.
Maddy has a rare sickness called SCID, short for severe combined immunodeficiency. She has a weak immune system, that can’t even battle the weakest of diseases, (like a cold or the flu).
She can’t go outside and be exposed to any of those germs. The only people allowed inside her house are her mom and her nurse, Carla, who is like her second mom.
Even visiting involves a process of decontamination and wearing only white clothes inside the residence. Then she meets Olly, the boy who lives next door that she is willing to risk everything for.
When reading the book, I felt like I was Maddy, trapped in the house that she’s never left for 17 years. How she felt when she first met Olly, the boy who moved in next door.
The author takes the reader on the journey of Maddy and how she faces the challenges of not being able to physically interact with Olly as their relationship progresses.
I liked this book, and I suggest it to anyone who enjoys reading books like The Fault in Our Stars or any love story that involves obstacles before finally reaching the end.
