The following is a full transcript of the interview given by Mrs. Maneri to The Warrior Messenger’s Rayne Burgess about the Candy Sale.
RAYNE BURGESS (Host): First question I have for you, what is the money from the candy sale going towards?
MRS. MANERI (Band Teacher): It goes right back to the music department, most of it helps us go to our competition trip in June, but some of it goes towards our region’s group, some things like that as well.
RB: How did it start? How did the candy sale start?
MM: How did it start, that’s a great question! I think it was just an idea for a fundraiser and we kept doing it because kids seem to like to buy candy, yeah, yeah that was pretty good!
RB: This is another question like that, why did you start the candy sale?
MM: We think of a lot of different ways to fundraise because we have a lot of money to fundraise for the trips, especially. We just came up with a bunch of ideas to raise money.
RB: Oh, that’s a pretty good reason
MM: Yeah!
RB: I have one more question for you, if candy didn’t exist, what would you sell instead of candy?
MM: If it didn’t exist? Well, we used to do pretzel sales, if people are interested we could bring those back because we like pretzel sale day too. Kids like food, right? Yeah, I think so, so I think that’s something good to stick with.
RB: So you wouldn’t sell toys or something like that?
MM: Oh! Toys could be a good option, but we do sell lanyards and t-shirts and stuff like that, so we do have other things going on at this moment.
RB: Oh wow! Well, that’s all the questions I have for you, thank you for your time!
MM: Good interview!
RB: Thanks!
