2 weeks into the NFL season and the season is looking like it is going to be amazing. With the very surprising and non surprising game endings, here are the results of week 2 of the NFL season.
For Thursday night football there was only 1 game which was the Greenbay Packers who currently lead the NFC North vs the Washington Commanders who are currently tied with the cowboys in 2nd place in the NFC East. Now with the Packers acquiring their new edge rusher Micah Parsons they have been looking very well especially with their QB Jordan Love who might have a breakout season. The amazing back and forth game ended with the Packers beating the Commanders 27-18.
With no games on Friday and Saturday we go into a whole bundle of week 2 games. In the first half of the Week 2 Sunday games, we saw what might have been the game of the season, as 2 of the NFC East teams went at it with the Cowboys barely beating the Giants 40-37. The Seahawks beat the Steelers 31-17. The Rams shut out Cam Ward’s regular season debut beating the Titans 33-19. The AFC East went to war with the Bills defeating the Jets 30-10 and the Patriots defeating the Dolphins 33-27. The Bengals beat the Jaguars in a close 31-27 game but they unfortunately once again lost their star QB Joe Burrow who might possibly be out for 3 months due to a turf toe injury. Mac Jones taking an injured Brock Purdy’s place in the week 2 game against the Saints went well as the 49ers won 26-21.
In the second half of the Week 2 Sunday games, we also saw 2 more rivalry games with the AFC North teams Ravens shutting out the Browns 41-17 and the NFC North teams Lions wreaking havoc on the Bears in a 52-21 game. With the luck of a penalty the Colts get a game winning field goal against the Broncos 29-28. Even though the Panthers came back they still lost 27-22 to the Cardinals. The 2025 and 2023 Superbowl rematch between the Chiefs and Eagles was another entertaining game with the final score being 20-17 Eagles. The final game of NFL week 2 Sunday was not as entertaining as the Falcons beat the Vikings 22-6 in a game that had only 1 touchdown (which was a pick 6) and 7 field goals combined between both teams and the Vikings also lost J.J. McCarthy for 2-4 weeks due to a high ankle sprain. This now leaves a total of 5 starting QB’s injured (J.J. McCarthy – Vikings, Joe Burrow – Bengals, [Possibly] Jayden Daniels – Commanders, Justin Fields – Jets, and Brock Purdy – 49ers.)
In the final games of Week 2 we saw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers go up against the Houston Texans in the Texans stadium. In another amazing back and forth game, the Buccaneers got the win by 1 point as the Texans lost 20-19 due to Baker Mayfield once again landing a game-winning touchdown. Later on that night in Las Vegas we saw an absolutely brutal rivalry game with the Los Angeles Chargers blowout the Raiders in a 30-9 game. Geno Smith was not expecting such a game as he threw 3 interceptions to the Chargers defense.
