Stick Figures. How could someone have stick figures as their favorite characters? Even have them be relatable no less. Well, thanks to Alan Becker, that is very much possible.
Character 1: Yellow
Personality: Yellow is known to be the “nerd” of the main 5 (the Color Gang). As the tech wiz, Yellow has been able to make extraordinary machinery and exhibit masterful coding and hacking skills throughout the series. Along with his intelligence, he is also known to be kind hearted, bossy, curious, and also showing a level of calmness during stressful situations. His curiosity has gotten them into danger a few times before, for example: in the AvM episode “Lucky Blocks”, his discovery of the Orb ended up putting his and the gang’s lives in danger. Though not the greatest in physical strength, his smarts surely make up for it.
Relatability: Yellow’s relatability is the biggest of all the others. A kind and smart person with too much curiosity, sounds a little too familiar.
Character 2: Purple
Personality: Starting out as an antagonist in the Animation VS Minecraft series and becoming a side character protagonist, Purple is quite a character indeed. When Purple was first introduced, he was shown to have a bratty and sore loser personality. Similar to Yellow, Purple is seen to have some level of coding and hacking abilities, as shown in the video “Animation VS League of Legends”. He is also known to be a great liar and a trickster, tricking and betraying the Color Gang twice during the AvM series. Later on, he is shown to have a child-like quirkiness, also probably being a bit clumsy and quite awkward as well. One of the two main things Purple is known for is his love for flying. In the episode “The End”, Purple obtains his elytra, allowing him to travel using flight, basically becoming a part of his personality. The second one is flowers, specifically pink flower petals. These petals are a representation of not only his sorrow but also representing his deceased mother, the only person who truly cared for him (we do NOT talk about his dad).
Relatability: The reason I relate to Purple is because of all the lying and the belief that nobody would understand him.
Character 3: The Chosen One
Personality: Nicknamed “The Angel of Death”, The Chosen One is known to be one of the biggest enigmas in the Animator VS Animation series. Introduced back in AvA 2, he didn’t have much of a personality. He did have a slightly silly personality, though that did change when he was reintroduced in AvA 6. Taking on a more colder and quieter personality. His more current personality is more of a cold, quiet, and calm one, along with some anger issues too. Using episodes like “The Flashback”, we can see that he does try to defuse situations through conversation, but he will always end up resorting to violence in the end. Though a controversial character at best, TCO is still an amazing character that just appeals to me in some way.
Relatability: The feeling of not being free is relatable enough. The anger issues are relatable too.
Overall
These characters hold a special place in my heart. They remind me of me so much that I just can’t hate them for anything. I will love them, no matter what. Because they just feel like a part of me, something that I can’t hate. They’re all one of the reasons why I love the Animation Vs series as a whole.
