WMS Band had a very successful season this year at Woodbridge Middle School.

Mrs. Maneri discussed different topics surrounding band. For the first one regarding some of the biggest upcoming events for band this year, Maneri said, “We have elementary school bands coming up to visit within the next 2 weeks, and middle school band day coming up next week. Spring concert is coming up in May and the band trip will be in June.”

Next, regarding what she is most proud of this year, Maneri said, “I am proud of the level of music we have been able to practice and achieve.” 

Regarding if people should join band and if it is worth it, Maneri stated that, ”We are always looking for new people to join band.”

Maneri explained what it takes to join band, ”It is a lot of time, commitment and individual effort.”

Maneri then stated who influenced her to join band, “My middle school band director actually influenced me to become a music teacher.” 

Regarding what some of the preps are for the main performances, Maneri stated, “We do weekly band rehearsals as well as practice in daily classes.” 

From a different point of view I interviewed Michael Martinez and he explained why he joined band. Martinez said,”I wanted to do something that would maybe get me a scholarship in the future, to join marching band or different types of band. It’s good for my career in the future.”

Martinez explained what the favorite things he has done in band this year are, ”Playing instruments and playing with musical pieces.”

Lastly, regarding what he would say to make other people join band Martinez said,”Do what you want, you don’t have to do it, Do whatever makes you happy, follow your dreams.”
