Mr. Maneri, the bowling team coach, discussed some key elements of a successful bowling game. He said, “Slow yourself down when your body starts to speed up. Just take a breath, and you don’t need to throw the ball as hard as you can to knock the pins down.”
Teamwork is crucial to being on a team. Maneri said, “Everyone has a bad game and it’s up to your teammate to kind of help you through it. You know if you miss a spare, well I will go up there and strike for you.”
Maneri stated why he wanted to coach bowling for our school. He said, “My first job when I was 16, I worked at a bowling alley in Edison and bowling has run in my family for a long time so it’s just in my blood.”
Another person interviewed as a source is Gianny De Jesus, a bowler on the team this year. He was asked what he would rate himself on a scale of 1-10. He replied, “I would rate myself a five because it was my first time bowling for a team.”
Accuracy and technique is really important in bowling. De Jesus said, “I would choose my accuracy and technique because most of the time, when I threw the ball, it went left or right.”
De Jesus spreads some positive advice to all young and beginning bowlers. He said, “Just keep the ball down the middle.”
