National Rare Disease Day is to observe and raise awareness about rare diseases that can occur and affect people’s health detrimentally. This day highlights the alarming effects that it may have on others. Also, it shows that these diseases need to be known and focused against. This is so we can be a step closer to putting an end to suffering.

It is to represent the very few people who have contracted these diseases, and their families so they can feel heard and seen. Knowing of these diseases can cause doctors to look for a solution to ending them. Such as more effective medicine, and possible cures.

Fun fact: National Rare Disease Day occurs on February 29th every leap year because of how “rare” the day is. If it is not a leap year, it will take place on the 28th.
