L Lawliet is the main protagonist of the anime Death Note. His main goal in the Animanga is to catch Kira and arrest him. Light Yagami is on the task force to catch Kira and is highly suspicious and likely to be him, so L keeps Light close and even handcuffs himself to him for a week. As time progresses, catching Kira gets easier and easier, they even get the Notebook and see the Shinigami connected with it, Rem. In Episode 25 of the Anime, L threatens Rem about another character, Misa Amane, and gets his name written in the Death Note and eventually dies.
