The student council is a club at Woodbridge Middle School. The student council helps with ideas, activities within the school, and volunteers for events. Each member has a role to play. Mrs. Dinella, one of the student council leaders, discussed what the student council does to improve the school. Dinella said that the Student council can “engage interest” from the student body to see what the rest of the student body is interested in, such as extracurricular and school-wide activities. I think they can create a positive atmosphere for the students.
Mrs. Dinella likes “working with the elected officials and getting their opinions on activities and feedback on new activities that we can do.”
Bellasofia Ortiz, a student council member was elected as President. Ortiz said, “It makes me miss class sometimes, I get a little bit of extra homework but it doesn’t bother me since I knew what I was getting into.” Ortiz’s message to WMS is to “never to give up, it’s only impossible until you do it!”
She also said, “It is okay to be different and always advocate for yourself.”
Isabella Seno, a Woodbridge Middle student council member was elected as student council vice president. Seno applied to her role because “I wanted to help with things and make our last year the best year of middle school and make it enjoyable for everyone.” Seno said, “I think my role as vice president is important because I have to make sure everyone is doing what they’re supposed to do and to be there if the president is not.”
Braylon Holman, a Woodbridge Middle School student council member, was elected as treasurer. Holman applied to his role because “I like being a leader and just like leading people and working as a team. Holman said his favorite part of his role is, “To work with all my friends in student council and problem-solve.”
Michael Dowling, a Woodbridge Middle School student council member was elected as secretary. Michael explains why he applied to his role, “To make the school a better place.” How does being a part of the student council affect Dowling’s life? Dowling has to make the right decisions and persuade me not to do the wrong things.”
Ms. Desch, a student council leader, explained how student council is doing, “I think we are doing amazing but there’s always room for improvement.” Mrs. Desch said she feels that student council is making it better in a way because they have been giving ideas to the school.
