We all must have experienced judgment, or at least heard of it. Judgement can happen at home, or even at school. What is judgment? Judgment is what people think of you in a positive or negative way. When judgment is good, it helps to improve yourself. It also raises self-esteem, confidence, and happiness. When judgment is bad, it can make you self-conscious, destroy self-confidence and have a big impact on your mental health and physical health. Judgment is shown in many ways. One example is one of those cooking shows where they judge the dish based on its taste and looks.
Another type of judgement is what I call “box judgement”. Box judgement is when people judge you on academics, personality, opinions, culture, opinions, looks, the way you dress, social status (which I feel is most common in school), and more. What box judgement is when people trap you in a box where you have to fit in. Judgement can affect a person literally. If you judge someone because they’re “fat”, they could take it literally. It could be such an impact on their health, because they could stop eating. Because of your judgement, it could literally affect someone’s physical and mental health at a drastic level. They would go to school, scared of what you’d judge them for next.
According to Melanie Zorilla, “People get judged for clothing the most in school.” In my opinion, you should be able to escape that box and color outside the lines. According to my favorite idol, Janani.K.Jha (actor and singer who writes greek mythology songs), “the day that i found out that my looks don’t matter was the day my self-confidence increased”. Another quote of hers is “your looks are the least interesting thing about you, because people care about the other things about you.”
So, to all the judgemental people, don’t make a box. Stop judging the people in front of you, behind you because you don’t know how it’s gonna affect you.
