Martin Luther King Jr. was a prominent social rights activist who was one of the leaders of the Civil Rights Movement from the mid-1950s up until he died in 1968. His leadership and protests were incredibly beneficial for the help of ending the segregation of African Americans in the South and other parts of America. King was well-known for his nonviolent and peaceful tactics. He was born January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, and died April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee due to assassination. He was one of the greatest nonviolent leaders in world history and was looked upon after his death when people finally started to recognize his work and achievements.
