Throughout the first three Spiderman films, we encounter many villains at the end of the movie the villain usually ends up dying. What if I told you there is such a Spiderman villain that hasn’t ever died in any of the films? They were always by Peters’s side, looking very innocent. Yes! It is Mary Jane Watson. Some of you might still be with me and some of you might be confused, but it’s true.
As I mentioned in Spiderman: The real villain and the real victim in Spiderman 1-3 (Tobey Maguires Spiderman) MJ started dating Harry and behind Harry’s back tried to go out with Peter without Harry knowing. On graduation day, MJ also breaks up with Flash (the school bully). That’s like telling someone they’re dying on THEIR birthday. While dating Harry she gets saved by Spiderman and she kisses him. Sure she doesn’t know that Peter is Spiderman but she proceeds to kiss him. Firstly Peter is in the wrong here because he knows that’s Mj and he knows that she’s with Harry (his best friend). Not to mention MJ shouldn’t be kissing people she doesn’t know and she cheating on Harry! Then Mj confesses her love to Peter (after she breaks up with Harry) at Harry’s dad’s funeral! MARY JANE WATSON GET A GRIP!
Then we move on to Spiderman 2, where MJ starts the movie off by trying to manipulate Peter into confessing his love. After Peter doesn’t confess she walks away after doing all that to Peter and says, Yeah I’m seeing someone. LIKE GIRL WHY ARE MANIPULATING PETER IF YOU’RE IN A RELATIONSHIP ALREADY? That is only the beginning, in this movie MJ is an actress and wants Peter to come to her play. Peter being Spiderman can’t come and MJ takes this personally. To get back at Peter she agrees to marry someone while eyeing Peter for revenge because he didn’t come to her play. MARY JANE WATSON STOP IT JUST STOP! Later in the movie she manipulates Peter again (while still being engaged) to confess his love. She then gets kidnapped by Otto and falls in love with Peter. Instead of calling off her wedding and going with Peter, she waits until the day of the wedding and runs away to Peter leaving poor Jamenson with trust issues (also the guy’s name is Jameson).
Mary Jane is still an actress in this film (Spiderman 3) and gets fired. After she gets fired her being MJ starts to envy her partner, Peter. She starts getting mad at Peter for being Spiderman even though in Spiderman 2 she accepted him for being Spiderman. Peter isn’t innocent in this though as he gaslights MJ after he kisses Gwen Stacy in a crowd full of people knowing MJ is
watching him (he was Spiderman when he kissed Gwen). MJ being MJ gets back at Peter by going back to Harry knowing that Harry lost his memory earlier. When Peter comes to apologize to MJ she tells him she’s in love with someone else. To get back at Mj Peter goes out with Gwen at the place where Mj works (I don’t understand what is the logic of going back and forth between Peter and Mj in this movie). They both end up forgiving each other after Harry dies. There is more evidence of Mj being evil like from the comics and a TV show from the 90s but that’s for another short as this one focuses on Mj being evil in the movies.
