JAWS is undoubtedly one of the most famous Horror/Thriller movies to come out from the minds of Steven Allen Spielburg and Peter Bradford Benchley.
The story of Jaws started in February 1974, when American author Peter Bradford Benchley released his novel JAWS, the novel became a hit and sold 20 million copies, due to the sudden rise of popularity in the novel, Steven Allen Spielburg, a young starting movie director decided that JAWS would be his second film, Spielburgs first movie, The Sugarland Express failed at the box office so he was desperate for ideas that can make a more profitable movie, so he made a deal with Benchley to create a movie about the novel, and eventually on June 20, 1975, JAWS the movie was released.
The movie revolves around a small island named Amity Island that’s off the coast of Long Island, New York, the police chief of the island, Martin Brody wants to close the beaches due to multiple people getting attacked and killed by a Great White Shark, but Larry Vaughn, the mayor of Amity Island refuses to close the beaches due to him trying to get as much money from tourists as possible before the summer ends, so Brody teams up with a marine biologist/Ichthyologist Matt Hooper and a grizzled boat captain Quint, to stop the shark from killing more people,
The movie was instantly a hit due to its premise, suspense, and the iconic music, the music for JAWS was composed by American composer and conductor John Towner Williams, the movie made over 1.5 billion dollars in its opening run, it held the title of highest-grossing film of all time until the release of Star Wars on May 25, 1977,
To this day, JAWS has remained a classic amongst fans of Horror/Thriller movies, the sequels not so much, on June 16, 1978, JAWS 2 was released, It did well in the box office and was the highest-grossing sequel until Rocky II released on June 15, 1979,
On July 22, 1983, JAWS 3 was released, although the movie was seen with negative reviews, JAWS 3 was still commercially successful,
On January 1, 1987, JAWS 4 was released, it was the lowest grossing film of the franchise, it is seen as one of the worst movies to ever be created.
