This crystal of the week is Garnet. Garnets are often associated with red, but they can also be pink, orange, green, black, and honey brown.
Garnets are typically found worldwide, so it depends on the type. Pyrope (a popular dark red gemstone), is found in South Africa, Sri Lanka, China, and Madagascar, while Almandite (from deep red/magenta to brownish-blackish gemstone) originates from India, Brazil, and North America. It is believed to emotionally provide a protective and calming influence during use and heal melancholy and depression. It also strengthens the survival instinct and brings courage and hope into critical circumstances. It is January’s birthstone, and it comes from the Latin word granatus, which means pomegranate (because of how it looks raw.)
