Marvelous teachers of March
The results are in! Students from each grade selected three inspiring, marvelous teachers as teachers of the month. The winners are Mrs.Gallagher, Mr.Miller and Mrs.Sharma.
Mrs.Gallagher was selected as teacher of the month for sixth grade. She has been teaching at WMS for 16 years and was “happy” because it is recognition from the students. Her biggest obstacle to get to where she is as a teacher was college because of the need to balance both sports and grades. Mrs.Gallagher overcame those challenges and became a science teacher.
Seventh grade selected civics teacher, Mr.Miller. He said,” It’s an honor to be recognized by the students! The students are why all of us get into teaching, and it is a great feeling to know they appreciate the efforts we put in.” Mr.Miller originally wanted to be an archaeologist but changed his mind near the end of high-school. A historical figure he is inspired by is a man named Elie Wiesel, who is a holocaust survivor. ¨He lived through unimaginable horrors during the Holocaust, and despite that fact he still kept his faith in humanity and dedicated his life to help others in the world,¨ Mr.Miller said.
Selected by the eighth grade was Mrs.Sharma. She is new to WMS and worried if students would “like” her. She described getting the recognition as,¨surprising.¨ Science is her passion and she made her passion her occupation. She said it was “her” subject as a child in school and has always loved it. A quote that inspires her is by Marilyn Monroe,”Everything happens for a reason.”
Congrats to the winning teachers. Their recognition’s are well deserved.
