Why are some creations of the past just so good? Classic literature, 2000s shows and movies, 90s fashion, 80s music….. The list goes on. They all make you feel nostalgia for a time you didn’t even live in. I’ve always wondered why this is. 

The reason why is because of creativity. Do you realize how many shows and movies there are based on already existing media? There’s a lot. Executives are running out of ideas. Almost everything to be done has almost already been done. Soon,  there is going to be no “new” idea to be created. Ideas will keep being reused. Another thing is that people of today have shorter attention spans than we did in the 90s and 2000s. There are so many apps that have “shorts” that are barely seconds long and we’re so desensitized to watching them that some people can’t even sit through a 30 minute TV episode. 

What interests most media creators of today is profit. They will do whatever it takes to make money. They don’t care about the quality of their media. Meanwhile, media creators of the past made media with care. They were mindful of what they made. They had original ideas. That’s what makes old media good. They were made with care, they were original. They were entertaining to watch and not the same recycled garbage.
