1904- Henry Ford sets speed record
Henry Ford sets the speed record of 91.37 miles per hour on a frozen lake- specifically, Michigan’s Lake St. Clair. The record was quickly broken within a month by William K. Vanderbilt at Ormond Beach in Florida. Ford had incorporated the Ford Motor Company only a year prior to his record, and that company would go on to be one of the biggest motor companies in America.
