7th grade students of the month!

The March Students of the month have been announced and have contributed to the fine character of WMS.

Luke Casaliggi, 6th grade Student of the Month winner, said that his favorite teacher is Ms. Duffy because she is “really nice” and “caring”. Advice Casaliggi would like to give any students striving to win student of the month in the future is,  “If you want to be student of the month you should just try to be a helping hand.” In 5 years Casaliggi sees himself playing “high school baseball” and applying to Rutgers University.

Sherlyn Martinez, 6th grade student, was also a student of the month winner. Martinez said she felt “pretty good” and “excited to tell her parents” when she had heard she won Student of the Month. Martinez’s favorite class is “Language arts,”  Martinez also stated that .“The teachers that inspire me are Ms.Duffy and Ms.Wong.” The biggest change from elementary school to middle school for Martinez is “more blocks.”

Jacki Morel, exceptional 8th grade student, was also awarded Student of the month. As many other students, Morel said she felt “shocked” when she found out she won Student of the month. “Teachers that inspire me are Mrs. Nemeth and Ms. Habyk because they are always telling me to do my best,” Morel stated. Morel says that if you want to win Student of the Month  “you should just try to do [well] in school.”

Alejandro Yanez, 8th grade Student of the Month winner, said that he felt “kind of surprised” when he heard that he won student of the month. Yanez said that his favorite teachers are Mrs. Gallo and Mrs. Pastor because they are “very nice”.

Tyler Weber, exceptional 7th grade student and another student of the month winner, said that he was “pretty excited” and “caught off guard” when he heard he won Student of the Month. When it comes to Weber’s favorite teacher, Weber explained,“My favorite teacher is Mr. Thompson because he always pushes me to do the best I can do.” Weber’s advice for anybody striving to win Student of the Month is to “be a respectful student, help your peers, have integrity, and do something good when nobody is around to take notice.”

Caitlin O’Brien, 7th grade student of the month winner, said she was “pretty shocked at first’ similar to the other winners. O’Brien says that “journalism is my favorite class because I can express myself through writing.” Advice O’Brien would like to give to anybody who wants to win Student of the month in the future is to “get good grades, never get in trouble, and to definitely choose your friends wisely.”
