“We got spirit, yes we do! We got spirit how ‘bout you?!” Cheerleaders for  WMS have shown their pride for Woodbridge Middle School this year.

Elise Gurovich, an all-star cheerleader, stated, “The experience is so much better, especially when you get to do what you love.” Gurovich is “in the game” when it comes to cheer.

Ms. Duffy, a cheer coach that has been coaching for 3 years said, “I love it. Working with Mrs. Liastro makes it so much easier.” Ms. Duffy is a “pro” when it comes to cheer.

“The flying makes you feel like you’re actually flying. I’m lucky I have spotters there for me,” says another cheerleader, Brianna Gonzalez. Gonzalez cheered when she was younger, therefore a veteran, and thinks that  “basketball cheerleading is better because football cheerleading is outside, and I like inside better.”

“In the past years, we let the cheerleaders show off their skills,”  said Mrs. Duffy. She also explained that the cheerleaders enjoy flipping and flying.

“Ms. Liastro and Ms. Duffy are such good teachers when it comes to cheerleading,” Rebecca Desmond, a gymnast and cheerleader, reports. Rebecca knows how to cheer, she has before.

This has been a tough year for the cheerleaders, having no gym. Mrs. Duffy commented, “Having no gym is difficult, but we are still able to practice, and we are grateful for what we have.” Ms. Duffy, Ms. Liastro, and all the cheerleaders think it is a struggle to have no gym, but they are lucky with what they have.

These cheerleaders have true spirit. WMS staff is proud of them and hopes that they will get better. Congratulations cheerleaders!
