WMS art teacher, Mrs.Donewitz is currently teaching 6th and 8th graders about the life of art.

Mrs.Donewitz’s 6th graders are currently about to start a color wheel project . Her 8th grade students are doing a project in which they are going to make paper mache sculptures.

Mrs.Donewitz commented “I have been doing art itself for 15 years but have been teaching it for 13 years.” She went on to explain that a challenge of teaching is that “students don’t really believe in themselves”.

Some of Mrs.Donewitz’s students like 8th graders Melissa Gardner and Sabrina Villanueva and 6th grader Lia Trenery shared their passion for art..

Gardner said that her favorite part about art is “the statues we are working on now”. She also commented saying her favorite artist were “her friends” because she said “I don’t have favorite artist, but my friend is a really good one”. She continued, “the name collage is my favorite piece of art that I’ve worked on because I worked really hard on it.”

Villanueva shared her opinions about art too, saying “I love art because i believe it’s creative and fun”. She continued saying her favorite piece of art is “the name collage”. She also said “my favorite artist is Vincent Vango”. She also continued saying that “I am basically the only one who does art in my family.”

Trenery gave her input about art, saying “my favorite thing to do in art is the free draws”. She continued saying “my favorite piece of art is the name collage because you can put six things about yourself on there.” She also said “my uncle Joe is good at drawing, but he didn’t take it for his career”.
