1999- Michael Jordan Retires for a Second Time

NBA (National Basketball Association) superstar and Chicago Bulls’ shooting guard Michael Jordan announces his retirement from his long-running Professional Basketball Career. He announced his first retirement from the sport in 1993 after his father was murdered and an illegal gambling problem, then played for the Birmingham Barons, a White Sox affiliate team. Jordan decided to return to the court in March of 1995. He made a public announcement on January 13, 1999 that he would be retiring from Professional Basketball, saying that he’s “99.9 percent” sure he would not be coming back to play on the court and that he lost the drive and desire that was needed to play the sport. But that’s not where it ends. Jordan continued to draw crowds when he became president of the Washington Wizards and eventually played for the first time after his retirement. The Wizards won 19 games against Jordan’s old team, the Bulls, but they didn’t get into the championships. Jordan announced his third- and final- retirement in 2003, and is considered the greatest NBA player of all time.
