WMS and Fords tip off before the Warriors’ victory.

Teacher, Mr. Guidetti makes a slam dunk when creating a top-notch basketball team that will dominate both on and off the court at WMS.

Guidetti feels that having a team is important because it gives kids a sense of what it is like to be on a team and to fit in. He also says it builds the students’ confidence. Guidetti says he expects his players to be “great students and leaders” and have sportsmanship and good grades. Guidetti makes practices demanding so the kids can push themselves to work hard.

“I just love basketball and I love working with kids, and teaching them a little bit about life,” Guidetti says, explaining what inspired him to create the team in the first place.

Nick Hilenski, 7th grader, says,”You have to do hard drills and a lot of conditioning to get in shape. Also, we have to run through the plays a lot so we can really get them down pat.” Nick says being on the team makes him feel “happy because I know that I worked hard to be on it.” Nick also says the team benefits him because “being on the team helps my skills and helps me develop more as a person.”

Edin Olevic says being on the team makes him feel very happy because “the games are going to be fun this year.” He says he wants to help get a championship for the school.

Erik Mapoy says he was inspired to be on the team because he loved basketball his whole life, “Being on the team is hard because there is good competition.”

All in all, a lot of time, work, and effort goes into creating a team and it brings joy and happiness to those around it. Good luck to the boys’ basketball team on their new season!
